Nice find Renata. The framing at the beginning of the video, of biodiesel as a novel use for host of familiar agricultural commodities, seems a little odd in light of the food vs. fuel controversies and also the new Searchinger et al. paper. Searchinger et al. use macroeconomic modeling to show that increased demand for agricultural commodities caused by biofuels production increases commodities prices and therefore increases pressure to convert land to agricultural production.
